Access and scaffold come first on a Stockport hill
On a level Salford street you stand a scaffold up and get on with it. On a slope here the base has to be stepped and the standards braced, and a property fronting straight onto a narrow pavement on Lower Hillgate may need a council licence and a footway board before anything goes up. Rear access is often a walled yard reached by carrying materials through the house. None of that is a problem, but it changes the cost and the timescale.
